Meditation

Mindfulness, Contemplation, Mystical Awakening

Why We Meditate

Throughout recorded history, in all cultures, and all parts of the world, humans have meditated. Sometimes it is suffering that causes us to retreat in search of solace. On other occasions it’s a moment of euphoria that makes us wonder how we can recapture that inner wonder. For philosopher types it may be the spirit of enquiry into the meaning of life that leads down the inner path. In today’s world, mindfulness has captured the spirit of meditation from an evidence-based therapeutic point of view. For millennia contemplatives of all faiths have pursued this art in orders of monks and nuns. Poets, artists, inventors, and even scientists have attributed their breakthroughs to moments of mystical awakening. Whatever you think about it, meditation has been a constant presence in the human story.

A Universal Meditation Course in 9 Simple Steps

Many people say they can't meditate. Learning to meditate usually requires help—some technique, some practise, and some guidance/companionship from like minded people. My meditation course gives you this help. Explained in my book 'You are the Light of the World', available in my online bookstore (now republished on Amazon as 'A Universal Meditation Course in 9 Simple Steps'), I use the classical four stages of meditation from Yogic tradition and develop them into 9 universal steps common to all major spiritual traditions. This course is open to people of all beliefs and none and the only requirement is a spirit of tolerance and respect for all world faiths. By the end of the course you will have your own personal experience of meditation and techniques that work for you.

One to One Training

I teach students, one to one, the 9 universal stages of meditation. You can follow this course at your own pace. All one to one coaching is £30 per hour so the complete course with 9 stages is 9x£30 and you can pay as you go with no commitment to complete 9 stages. Through the course we explore a suitable mantra for you to use going forwards, which we can formalise at the end of the course with an initiation ceremony, if you so wish. Alternatively we can arrange one or two sessions at the hourly rate and create together a method that suits your psychology, need, and value system.

In My Yoga Classes

Perhaps the best way to capture the spirit of meditation is in a guided group situation. The first 20 minutes of my yoga class give you an excellent opportunity to experience this.

Group Retreat

Group retreats can be a wonderful and even life changing experience, drawing on continual guidance, a wonderful setting, and the energy of community to catalyse spiritual growth. I have taught and attended multiple retreats over the years. I am available to teach a group meditation retreat either over over a weekend or a longer period.
